Rainy Day at Jiufen - Panoby *meihua

We went for a stroll through Jiufen's market. Actually, it was really crowded in there, so when we got to the end where there was more open space, we gladly walked out despite the rain. And we were rewarded with this view!

The story behind the name of Jiufen is that in historical times, this rural tea-farming community had only nine families living there. Every so often, they’d need to make a trip into town to buy some basic necessities. They would send one person down to buy nine portions - thus, 九份.
