Joanie

This is Joanie, the National Aviary's resident wattled curassow. She's a sweetie, and she's not shy at all.

Wattled curassows are from the Amazonian rainforest in South America. The population is threatened by hunting as well as habitat destruction. They are listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List.
