The boat of the boat-burning ceremony at Donggang. I think this was during the boat's final parade, at around 1am. It was being marched inexorably down to the beach, where immense stacks of paper money and other sacrifices were waiting to be lit on fire.
The boat-burning ceremony is a festival that takes place every couple of years in Donggang. The people pile up a large decorative boat with sacrifices such as money and papercraft goods, set it on fire, and send it out to sea. They believe that burning this boat helps keep evil and sickness away from the village.
