Flock of Egrets

We went birding in Kenting to see the 國慶鳥 (National Day Bird). Every year the grey-faced buzzard migrates in huge flocks to the southernmost tip of Taiwan, and there’s about a two-week window for seeing them that just happens to coincide with Taiwan’s National Day. They’re therefore known as the National Day Bird here. Anyway, even though the buzzards come down to the island in the late afternoon/evening, we went early to check out other areas of Kenting. Boy am I glad we did! I added lots of birds to my life list that day. The weather was great and the birds were plentiful.

A flock of egrets flew by and tricked some people into thinking they were low-flying buzzards. Trolls.
