A person in front of me taking a picture of the boat used in the boat-burning ceremony (燒王船).
The boat-burning ceremony is a festival that takes place every couple of years in Donggang. The people pile up a large decorative boat with sacrifices such as money and papercraft goods, set it on fire, and send it out to sea. They believe that burning this boat helps keep evil and sickness away from the village. I think the boat burning is also in honor of Mazu, who protects fishermen, but I'm not sure.
